Here are some movie sets and film locations often used in these films--visit them online or on location!

Across the 118 Freeway from the Iverson Ranch, and a beautiful public park in two parts.

Corriganville Movie Ranch II

Corriganville Movie Ranch III

William S. Hart Ranch and Museum

Iverson Movie Ranch

"The most photographed location ranch in motion picture history." In Chatsworth, CA--on the other side of the hills from the Corrigan Ranch.

Coyboypal.com

A huge site filled with everything you'd want to know about the cowboy film stars of the 1930's-50's.

The Old Corral

Another great, broad movie cowboy site!

More to come...

The Songs:

Yodelaydeehoo...

Riders in the Sky

My favorite singing cowboy group! A contemporary cowboy quartet playing both the classics and original tunes. You probably heard them sing "Woody's Roundup" in Toy Story 2.

Sons of the Pioneers

The classic Western group; appeared in many films, and artists in their own right.

Sourdough Slim's Double-S CyberRanch

Yeesss! An accordion-playing, singing, cowboy yodeler! (Ranger Doug and him might have to duke it out to see who's the best! I mean, yodel it out...)

Western Music Association

International group dedicated to the preservation, performance, and composition of traditional and contemporary music of the American West.

Western Swing

A nice introduction to the history, major artists, and recordings of this hybrid of swing and hillbilly music.

Site has updated information on artists, concerts, and societies dedicated to this lively musical artform. (Note: actual web address is different than title.)

The "Real West":

The American West

A broad sorce of information on everything from history to art to ghost towns.

The Autry National Center

A museum in Burbank, CA that explores all aspects of the American West, historical and romantic. Recently hooked up with the Southwest Museum in Highland Park, and will soon build an adjacent museum focusing on Native American culture.

Calico Ghost Town

My favorite "commercial" ghost town. Restored by Walter Knott (of Knott's Berry Farm fame), Calico was a very productive silver mine. "On the road to Vegas," near Barstow, CA.
